In 1927......

Bill Boyer, an investor in the McDonald Gilfillan Motor Company, saw great promise for an automobile and truck dealership model when what is now Boyer Trucks was founded. The company became a Ford Motor Company franchise holder in 1934, selling Ford cars and trucks. In 1952, Bill Boyer became the sole owner and the dealership became known as Bill Boyer Ford.

In 1958 the Company was awarded a heavy truck franchise and began selling Ford heavy commercial trucks, The late fifties and early sixties were an exciting time for the dealership and Boyer family. Boyer, known as one of the "go to" people in the Minneapolis business community was one of the five founding investors in the Minnesota Vikings and served as team President from 1961 through 1964. The car and truck businesses were eventually split, and Bill Boyer was succeeded in the ownership of the Ford truck dealership by Phillip "Skip" Maas.

Since then, the business has grown to include six dealership locations. Boyer Trucks continues to keep pace with changing markets while embracing a commitment to superior customer service and strong values. Boyer is now one of only two nationally franchised dealers within the city limits of Minneapolis. Boyer became an ESOP organization in 1988, one of few ESOP's in the dealership space nationally.
